Wow! I really enjoyed this place. The decor was lovely and had multiple seating options. I was impressed with the food. Even the picky child in the group enjoyed it! So well made and everything tasted delicious. I’d recommend going for a casual date or hangout. Food prices were moderate.
Highly recommend this place. Food was exceptional. Two thumbs up. Owner and his wife super friendly. Look forward to my next visit
The food was plentiful and delicious. Our first course began with a delightful lentil soup with just the right amount of spiciness (I generally prefer a medium salsa). A combination of 3 salads consisting of couscous, cucumber/tomato with a spice I didn't recognize but enjoyed and a dry coleslaw (the description doesn't do the salads justice). I devoured the beef and eggplant special while my sister ate the Chicken Sautee special they came with a side of unique rice, Naan and a yogurt covered salad (again a poor description for the delicacy it is). The children enjoyed the soup and salads (which came with all of our meals) and a chicken spinach Pide and the more adventurous one had the combination Pide (small was quite ample and I'm told absolutely fabulous). We sat in their traditional Turkish sitting area although there were tables and chairs available if you'd prefer. If I lived in the Bloomington area this would be a favored and frequented restaurant.
Food is out of this world, so welcoming and homey. Need this in Indianapolis. This coffee, wow.
Holy moly this food is delicious. Sorry for the bad photo quality but I wolfed down the other half before I could even think about leaving a review. Okay, yeah, the parking is not great around there. And, the exterior doesn’t give you a very good idea of what you’re walking into. But for $16 I fed my family of 3 and it was on par with the best Mediterranean food I’ve had. Like go there! Now!
Absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to return to dine-in, but takeout for now is an absolute treat. PS get the Turkish coffee cake! Highly recommend.
bring your own booze! the food is delicious, price is right and the owner is so nice and attentive. love it here.
Lovely ambience, good food and friendly servers and owners. Will go again!
Lovely and soothing ambience. The pides are really good. I tried the garlic pide. Do try the coffee cake with the Turkish coffee after your meal. Very satisfying
Great food, good price, nice environment.
The sides we got taste stale, but the entrees were fresh and full of flavor!
Pide and kebabs are amazing
Had a appetizer I forgot the name of, rack of lamb, chicken sauté, and their coffee cake and it was all delicious, especially the lamb and coffee cake.
THE BEST HIDDEN GEM! Fabulous food. If you like Middle Eastern food RUN, don’t walk here!!!
Simply Love it!!
Love the food and the owner is fantastic!
great atmosphere. very clean. owner is very nice. my daughter and my wife and i enjoy going. food is always great and very big portions of food. A1.
The best lamb chops I've ever eaten and I mean ever!!! We ordered 7 different dishes and they all were amazing.
Great first Turkish food experience. Delicious food and comfortable environment.
Yum!
Five star food. Excellent. Lentil soup was deeply flavourful. Hummus was best I've ever had. Pide was crisp, cheesey, and filling. Wonderful service. A must!
Friendly owners and service, very tasty food with good selection of Turkish delicacies. Don't forget to finish off with traditional Turkish coffee.
One of the very few authentic restaurant experiences in Bloomington! The owner is very welcoming, and will offer you either traditional table seating or floor seats (go with the floor!). The menu can be a bit pricey but if you're able to spend over $25 comfortably, then try their main dishes along with pides! I came with one person and we split a Zehsu Pides comfortably, so if you're not looking for a big bite then try that out. I recommend asking your waiter to make your meal extra spicy to enhance your meal!
The babaganoush and tiramisu were amazing! So was the service.
The red lentil bean soup was incredible! In addition the Padies kinda like a pizza or stromboli was excellent. Their crown rack of lamb was a beautiful presentation and equally flavorful. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Adorable little cafe with yummy food. I like the lamb and the stew pots. All the entrees come with a salad plate. Eating on the floor is fun but the pillows and cushions are a little run down. Would recommend.
The food was excellent, the owner chef, wait staff extremely friendly. I would recommend this place highly. Update on the Turkuaz Cafe. We've lived here for 3 months and have been there 6 times. The food is still fantastic, wait staff excellent, and you couldn't meet a nicer man than the owner chef.
The food is awesome and the service is brilliant 😀
I only take people to Turkuaz if I love them. I'm that territorial of this place. As someone with an autoimmune disease, I'm easily triggered by restaurant food. But the preparation at Turkuaz is quality, and DELICIOUS, and I never suffer, here. Fantastic cozy date location.
Pite are good, so does the lamb stew.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a place with such great Turkish food made by such lovely folks!
Wonderful food and atmosphere
Pros: 1) The place is big and good for big crowds. 2) The seating area is comfortable. 3) The service is good. 4) The beef stew pot was delicious and beautifully decorated. 5) The place is clean!!!!! Cons: 1) I didn't like the salmon kabob. The salmon kabab was not made tasty. It wasn't grilled! It more looked like poached. Seemed like it has not been marinated in any thing. It was not good. 2) I didn't like the chicken spinach pide either. The chicken on it was old and didn't taste good. It definitely had an old taste to it which means the chicken was in the fridge for some time! Over all I didn't like it.
Delicious, great service and has a little store with some Turkish products. Great atmosphere.
Laid-back atmosphere with yummy food. I especially like the lunch buffet, which is super affordable. Sitting on the floor is fun. Nice waitresses. Will be going back!
What a wonderful place. Food was phenomenal, and it was a lunch buffet. Wait staff was quick and courteous. It was a pleasure to meet and talk to the owner.
Great food !
Food was spectacular and the service was exemplary as always.
Flavorful and quality food. The best part? Friendly staff and nice ambiance. I tried a rack of lambs and boy it was yummy 😋! Recommended by me and my friends! Will go back again!
Excellent food and service. Cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Excellent food! Excellent service!
The lamb, oh my goodness, best lamb I've had in the Midwest
Good food, great ambience, excellent service. Just a couple little things that held it back from five stars but I would definitely go back. We had the Beef and Eggplant, it was incredibly tender and flavorful, good presentation, not a fan of the fried bread that came with it, would like to have had a little more of the perfectly cooked rice.
I genuinely liked this charming and intimate Turkish cafe. The service was professional and kind. The waitress gave me the option of sitting at a table or on the floor of the carpeted room which is lovely. They do their best to kesp it clean so if you want to sit in the carpeted room among the beautiful Turkish decor, be prepared to remove your footwear. The food I ordered came quickly and piping hot. On the whole the ingredients tasted fresh, and my favorite were the coucous salads and vegetable salads which came with the pide at lunchtime. I ordered a gozleme for a light appetizer, which is fried bread served with veggies and feta. For the main I had a combo pide, which is a bread boat filled with cheese and a little of every filling! My favorite fillings were the soujouk, spicy beef and eggplant. I am used to a softer bread crust for the pides, and this one was crispier and had more of a grilled taste to it. I liked that it was baked with sesame seeds. Upon paying for my meal I picked out a few turkish goodies they have for sale by the door and went home with a fancy box of Turkish delight for a very fair price. I would come back here on occasion. The food, sevice and atmosphere were all good but I only give it 4 stars because I happen to like the taste of the food better at its local competitor (which I shall not name, but all you Bloomingtonians know anyway :)
My friends and I all agreed it was a wonderful experience. Food was very tasty. Cozy and inviting atmosphere. I am so happy that Bloomington offers such a place over the box, chains.
Another delicious meal for our family Thanksgiving celebration.
Ran by probably the sweetest man in Bloomington. Food and service is always amazing.
Turkuaz Cafe is right in downtown Bloomington. It was our first time tasting Turkish dishes and we we very happy with what we ordered. My wife is a big fan of plain hummus and she liked the flavor of the hummus as well as the toasted pita triangles. Neither of us had eaten Mucver before and we enjoyed that as well. Both of us also received red lentil soup and the triple salad. I had read in another review that the couscous was a little dry. I have to admit I personally enjoyed the consistency of the couscous. I had the chicken and spinach Pide. It was good and I feel they did a great job of cooking it. However, the garlic in it seemed to have been steamed rather than roasted. So, it had a bit of an unpleasant favor to me. Past reviews have also mentioned how friendly the staff were at the Cafe. It certainly was true for our visit as well. The staff always was pleasant and helpful. They truly make you feel that they want you to enjoy your visit. So, I'd recommend you give it try.
The food is amazing especially the lunch buffet. Great test very fair price and a cozy place
Always great food!
